Math Placement for Associate Degree or Certificate Programs
Most students will be placed into transfer level math, however, it is important to understand which math is required for your program before enrolling. Below you will find helpful information to assist you in interpreting your placement results and understanding your program requirements.
If you plan to pursue a certificate program, find out if your chosen program requires math (many do not).
If you plan to pursue an AA or AS, find out the required courses for your degree.
Starting Fall 2022, SRJC will not be offering MATH 101 or 156, but completing a course like MATH 10 (Nature of Math), MATH 15 (Introduction to Statistics), or MATH 9 (Finite Math) will allow you to satisfy your math requirement for a AA/AS degree.
If you are unsure which math course is right for you after reviewing the requirements, please meet with a counselor.
Math Sequence Chart
The math sequence chart shown below is intended to help you understand your math placement. Your starting point depends on your math placement result, educational goal, and prior experience in mathematics. Before enrolling in a math class, please meet with a counselor.
