The Non-Credit ESL (Non-Credit English as a Second Language) Placement Test is for non-native English speakers, testing their skills in basic English writing skills.
The test itself is 30 minutes long, with an additional hour long orientation. There is a picture prompt that students will have 30 minutes to write as much as they can about one or as many things that are happening in the picture. Prior to the test, the student will complete their information on a test scantron form. The writing assessment is evaluated by ESL instructors, and students can access their test results in their student portal within 2 business days.
All Non-Credit ESL courses are free. Placement Testing is not required for Non-Credit courses. But by taking the test, it helps to determine the student's current basic English writing skills.\
The test results is available within two business day for the noncredit ESL placement test. Follow these steps to login to your Student Portal page or come to the Assessment office with a photo id to get a printed copy of test results
After the initial placement testing in a subject area, students may retake the test once per semester.
